Welcome to a safari in one of the 34 Bio-Diversity hotspots of the world. With a vast treasure of endemism, the areas you will be visiting are spectacularly rich in plant & animal species. Our journey will first take us to the core areas of the famed Periyar Tiger Reserve where we will trek as well as go on jeep rides through the heart of the rain forests. The walks will be a relaxed affair but the jeep rides will be bumpy through the minor forest roads. From Periyar we will move on through the ghats to Munnar. Munnar has a different eco-system – that of grasslands interspersed with shola vegetation (high altitude montane forests). We will travel through one such shola – Manavan shola – literally meaning King Of Forests. This is Asia’s largest mountain forest brimming with endemism & is a protected enclave. Munnar is also a place to see the Nilgiri Tahr, one of the endemic species of the Western Ghats. The Lowland forests at Thattekkad have 7 different eco-systems which augurs well for a substantial number of birds – 275 species in a small area of 25 sq kms.
